PSM receives both the Bradfield and Sydney region awards from Engineers Australia at the biennial Australian Engineering Excellence Awards.

PSM is proud to receive these awards along with Taylor Thomson Whitting (TTW) and CPB Contractors for the collaborative design work, integrating the geotechnical and structural disciplines in order to best address the challenging and constrained conditions beneath the Sydney CBD on the Wynyard Walk project.  The project also included aspects of PSM’s underground structure design intelligence along with TTW’s above ground structure design intelligence.

These are the 3rd and 4th awards received for the work by PSM & TTW on the Wynyard Walk project, following the 2017 Highly Commended (runner up) award from Consult Australia for Design Innovation (in ground-structure interaction), and the 2017 Excellence in Concrete (winner) award in the Infrastructure category from the Concrete Institute of Australia (including the PSM tunnel design).

The Bradfield award is named after John Bradfield, the celebrated engineer and University of Sydney alumnus behind two of Sydney’s most acclaimed projects: the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the city’s underground railway system.  It is somewhat fitting that one of the many challenging aspects of the Wynyard Walk project involved excavation beneath and underpinning of the Railway House heritage building that was in fact designed by Bradfield in the 1930s.

Congratulations to all that contributed to the project.
