A Principal Geotechnical Engineer at PSM and a Chartered Professional Engineer with over 25 years of experience in geotechnical consultancy, Michael’s professional expertise encompasses 2D and 3D numerical modelling, geotechnical analysis and design, and site investigations.
Michael has been involved in a wide range of projects across tunnelling, civil infrastructure, open-cut and underground mining, both in Australia and internationally. Michael has held lead roles in the investigation and design of major multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, including highways, and road and rail tunnels in New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia. His experience includes the design of highway cut slopes, ground support modelling for road and rail tunnels, and the design of underground station boxes and egress shafts for major rail infrastructure projects.
Michael has a strong interest in 3D geotechnical numerical modelling of complex ground-structure interactions, large-scale open-cut mine slopes and underground mines.
Michael holds a PhD in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of New South Wales and has co-authored over 20 technical papers published in journals and international conference proceedings relevant to his areas of expertise.
Michael is a Chartered Professional Engineer (MIEAust, CPEng, NER) and a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ). He is also a member of Australian Geomechanics Society and the Australian Tunnelling Society.
