Mick is a Principal Hydrogeologist with 25 years of experience in the water industry, having worked across government, consulting, and the mining sector. This diverse background has provided Mick the opportunity to learn from some of Australia’s leading groundwater practitioners and numerical modellers, giving him a well-rounded perspective of the industry and a strong appreciation for the challenges faced by different stakeholders.
Mick has worked on some of Australia’s most iconic mining projects, contributing to more than 35 mine sites at various stages, including prefeasibility, operational mining, and closure. His experience spans open-cut and underground operations, as well as dual-phase environments in Papua New Guinea. He has also been engaged as an expert witness, providing groundwater advice on high-profile projects. In addition to his mining expertise, Mick has significant experience working on civil infrastructure and construction projects.
Mick has a keen interest in groundwater resource development, focusing on sustainable water supplies for critical projects, town water supply, and landholder use. He is equally passionate about finding practical and efficient solutions for groundwater depressurisation and dewatering across mining, construction, and environmental applications.
Early in his career, Mick was heavily involved in the construction of salt interception schemes along the River Murray and has since applied his expertise in horizontal directional wells from the Riverland to major civil construction projects.
Mick is currently a member of the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH).
